Timberwolf Organics > About

At Timberwolf Organics, the goal was to create a natural diet as close to raw as possible.

From their extensive research, Timberwolf came to a conclusion regarding pet foods and the pet industry. They felt that foods that contained a lot of animal based protein, or a performance or puppy version of some dog foods seemed to get better results than maintenance or 'lite' versions.

They found that most commercial dog foods, because of cost considerations, are made predominantly from wheat flour, corn meal or white rice. In the extrusion process, the starches are gelatinized so that they may be digested. A high level of starch in a formula does bind the kibble together nicely, but contributes little in the way of nutrition. At Timberwolf, they have made their foods a little differently using elevated levels of ingredients such as high quality chicken meal, lamb meal and fish meal that are already very digestible as are the fats and oils.

Ingredients in Timberwolf Organics products such as chicken meal, lamb meal and fish meal are high in amino acids, essential fatty acids, calcium, potassium, magnesium, manganese and vitamins. Timberwolf Organics adds no extra calcium to their formulas as their ingredients supply enough necessary. Fats and oils in the foods provide essential fatty acids.

Timberwolf uses only small amounts of grains and they use only whole grains, which include the germ and bran where the vitamins and minerals are most concentrated. The grains are run twice through a high-speed hammer mill right before going into the extruder. This provides the freshest product possible. Timberwolf feels they have achieved a proper balance of grains in their food to provide a high enough fiber content to allow for proper bowel movements without having excessive stool volume.

Timberwolf has brought all the best properties of pet food together. They have created a carnivore specific, ultra concentrated performance formula with herbs, fruits, vegetables, multiple grains, gourmet unrefined oils, and seaweeds, packaged in a barrier bag.
